AFL round one fixtures revealed

West Coast will open it's 2021 campaign at home to the Gold Coast Suns, after the AFL revealed the fixtures for the opening round of the season on Saturday.

The Eagles and Suns will do battle at Optus Stadium on Sunday March 21st, with bouncedown at 4:10 PM.

Fremantle heads to the MCG to face Melbourne in their round one opener on a Saturday afternoon, both clubs having missed finals in 2020.

Richmond and Carlton open the season with their traditional Thursday night clash, Collingwood and Western Bulldogs to face off at the same venue the following night in what looms as a blockbuster game with Dogs recruit Adam Treloar facing his old side.

In other fixtures Adelaide will play Geelong in the Saturday twilight match, Essendon plays Hawthorn at Docklands on Saturday night while Brisbane will host Sydney at the Gabba that same evening.

New North Melbourne coach David Noble will have Port Adelaide as his first up opponent to kickstart Sunday football at Docklands, Greater Western Sydney at home to St Kilda at Sydney Showgrounds in the middle game before the Eagles-Suns match wraps up the opening round.

Rounds 1-7 are expected to be revealed in full before Christmas by the AFL, with the remaining rounds to be released as floating fixtures subject to change throughout the season.
