AFL week one finals schedule revealed

Brisbane and Richmond will open the 2022 AFL finals series at the Gabba, as the league announced the week one finals schedule on Sunday evening.

Following an incredible final round that saw Western Bulldogs snatch eighth spot from Carlton, the top eight positions were decided following Sydney's 14 point win over St Kilda at Docklands, guaranteeing the Swans a double chance.

The Lions and Tigers meet in an elimination final at the Gabba on Thursday 1st December, the third time in four seasons the clubs have met in a final at the venue.

Reigning premiers Melbourne face Sydney at the MCG the following night in the second qualifying final, the Demons first final at the MCG since 2018 after being deprived of home finals last season due to Melbourne's covid-19 lockdown.

Geelong will face Collingwood at the MCG at 4:35 PM EST (2:35 WST) on Saturday 3rd September in the first qualifying final, before Fremantle face Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in the first elimination final, bouncedown at 6:10 PM.

The AFL's controversial pre-finals bye comes first next weekend, as ten clubs start their off-season in preparation for 2023 while eight clubs set their sights on premiership glory.
