AFLW Western Derby to be played Sunday

After a week of conjecture around both Fremantle and West Coast's round two AFL Women's matches, the two Perth clubs will meet one another on Sunday in a Western Derby at Fremantle Oval, confirmed by the league on Friday.

With the Perth metropolitan area coming out of lockdown at 6:01 PM on Friday, the AFL Women's competition was able to tick off the fixture between the clubs on Friday morning, after the state recorded zero new cases of coronavirus.

The match will be closed to the general public due to current government guidelines in place in Western Australia which sees a maximum capacity of 150-people permitted at the venue (inclusive of players, coaches, umpires, broadcast and venue staff).

The fixture means all clubs will feature in round two of the competition, with GWS and Adelaide facing one another at Blacktown International Sportspark after both being caught in Perth last weekend when the lockdown was announced.
