Aussies away with golden Saturday

Australia won five gold medals on Saturday night in a prolific night at the Commonwealth Games.


Two-time Comm Games medalist Jess Stenson claimed gold in the women's marathon while fellow Australians Eloise Wellings and Sinead Diver finished fourth and fifth.


Stenson beat Kenya's Margaret Wangari Muriuki by 29-seconds.


Meanwhile, Madison de Rozario won gold defending her Commonwealth T53/54 marathon title.


She finished in a Commonwealth record time 1hr and 56 minutes.

In the pool, Katja Dedekind finished in front of the field to win gold in the women's S13 50m in a time of 26.56 a record that has stood since the Rio Paralympics.


Australia's powered to victory in the women's 4 x 100m freestyle final the team of Emma McKeon, Maddie Wilson, Shayna Jack and Mollie O'Callaghan crossed the line 5.98 seconds ahead of England in silver and further back Canada in Bronze.


Finally, our men's 4 x 100m freestyle combination also won gold hitting the lead at the 250m mark.


Flynn Southam, Zac Incerti, William Xu Yang and Kyle Chalmers retaining their title from four years a go.
