Aussies batter Windies in series clean sweep

It took Australia just over an hour to decimate the West Indies on the fourth afternoon of the second Test in Adelaide, routing the visitors for just 77 on their way to a 419-run victory.

Resuming at 4/38 Mitchell Starc struck two vital early blows, knocking over Devon Thomas (12) and Jason Holder (11) to set Australia on their way.

Alex Carey was the star of the day for Australia, claiming three stunning catches off Michael Neser as the West Indies offered little resistance.

Carey claimed catches up to the stumps to dismiss both Joshua De Silva (15) and Roston Chase (13) in a fine wicket keeping display, the visitor's innings over in just 40.5 overs when Carey completed another sharp one-handed take to dismiss number eleven Marquino Mindley.

Scott Boland, Starc and Neser all claimed three wickets for Australia, Nathan Lyon with one to claim his 450th wicket for Australia.

Travis Head was player of the match having made 175 and 38* on his home ground, while Marnus Labuschagne was player of the series having scored 502 runs, a record for a two-match series.

Australia now prepare for a three Test series against South Africa, beginning at the Gabba next Saturday.
