Aussies finish on top of standings
Australia have finished the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham at the top of the medal standings.
The green and gold team won 67 gold, some 10 golds ahead of nearest rival the UK, 57 silver, and 54 bronze.
Australian diving great Melissa Wu carried the country’s flag into Alexander Stadium during the closing ceremony as thousands of athletes made the customary march into the arena as one.

Wu was afforded the honour after winning a third gold medal off the 10m platform at her fifth and final Games.
Birmingham has now official handed over the games to Victoria ahead of hosting the regional games in 2026.
The Kookaburras claimed the final gold medal for the Aussies defeating India in a thumping 7-0 result.
The victory brings a fourth title for Birmingham flag bearer Eddie Ockenden, now equal on Commonwealth Games gold medals won with another Kookaburras legend Mark Knowles.
