Barty crashes out of Aus Open

Aussie Ash Barty has been knocked out of the Australian Open in straight sets falling 7-6, 7-5 to Sofia Kenin.

Both players looked nervous throughout the encounter as a spot in the final waited for the victor.

Barty led 5-3 in the second set that was a pivotal moment in an effort to level up the match

A series of errors from that point let the American back into the contest and then ultimately to charge onto win the match.

It has now been 42-years since an Aussie won their home women's single title.
