Bowers handed one match ban

Fremantle have been dealt a major blow ahead of their final round meeting with North Melbourne in the AFL Women's competition, with star midfielder Kiara Bowers handed a one match ban for rough conduct.

Bowers was handed the ban for an incident with Melbourne midfielder Eden Zanker during the first quarter of the round eight match at Fremantle Oval, assessed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Should Fremantle accept the ban Bowers will miss the final round match against the Roos at Arden Street Oval, while also being ruled ineligible for the AFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, the midfielder seen as one of the favourites for this year's medal having averaged 22 disposals per game this season.

The match against North Melbourne is likely to shape the finals fixture, with Fremantle sitting in fourth spot after their five point loss to the Demons and the Roos a game further back in sixth spot.
