Bracken Unconvinced By Openers
Former Australian fast bowler Nathan Bracken isn't convinced by the opening pair of David Warner and Aaron Finch.
"Take the first game out of it, and it [the series] was pretty poor for them, wasn't it? You've gotta get something out of them - leading into the summer of Test cricket we were asking the question about the openers, and now we're doing the same in one day cricket. It's about getting that consistency, but you've got to get runs. "
Speaking on Sports Breakfast after India took the three game series 2-1, Bracken also discussed his optimism for Marnus Labushagne, but said there was still work to do in the short format.
"There's glimpses. It took him a little while to settle into Test cricket, but now he's started to perform. We expect every player that walks in to be a superstar and score a truck load of runs and change every game they play. The thing is, is that it does take time - and we've got to look at performances from the team as a whole. Take Steven Smith out and we're in trouble again."
Sports Breakfast is on air from 6am Monday to Friday.
