Brown to coach Boomers

Basketball Australia have confirmed that Brett Brown will take over as Boomers head coach from Andrej Lemanis.

Brown transitions into the role ahead of the Boomers Tokyo 2020 Olympic campaign.

The Philadelphia 76ers coach says his aim too solely to win gold at the games.

“When the opportunity to coach the Boomers next summer in Tokyo came up, I was reminded of my deep history with Australia and Australian basketball,” Brown said.

“I felt a duty to try and help in any way that I could. The spirit of the country and the athletes of the country exemplify on a day-to-day basis the passion that is Australian sport. That passion is respected and recognized throughout the world and I’m very excited to be a part of that again."

Brown will play an integral role in ensuring Ben Simmons will play for Australia in Tokyo.
