Buster Bash triumphs in Perth Cup rerun

Buster Bash has won the re-run of the Perth Cup giving trainer David Harrison and jockey Shaun McGruddy their maiden win in the race.

McGruddy landed the ride on the winner after Joesph Azzopardi was suspended for six weeks following the events that led to the race being abandoned on New Years Day.

It was a blitzing run from Buster Bash as McGruddy took off at the 600m to leave the field in his wake to charge away to a 4.2 length victory over Staffords Lad and Pure Devotion.

Buster Bash started the $5 favourite following it's dominant run in the GA Townton Cup back in December.

Post race McGruddy spoke about the biggest win of his career.

“I didn’t mind following “Jagsy” on Cockney Crew, but I was in two minds whether to stay there, but as rough as it was, Bad Wolf was on its girth so I got out and whipped around them.

“When I got him into the three-wide running line he was only three deep momentarily because he crossed them and got to the rail.”

Earlier in the day, How's the Serenity won her second in a row to salute in the Miss Andretti Stakes.
