Cameron opts out of Giants

GWS Giants forward Jeremy Cameron has informed the club he wishes to explore his options as a free agent, with Geelong his likely destination for season 2021 and beyond.

The 2019 Coleman medalist told the club on Monday he wanted to explore his options as a restricted free agent.

It’s understood Geelong is his preferred location, despite a late charge from Collingwood.

“We are disappointed by this news having tabled what we believe to have been a suitable offer to retain Jeremy,” GWS GM of football Jason McCartney said.

“With Jeremy being a restricted free agent, we have a number of avenues to now explore to get the best possible outcome for the Giants.”

GWS can match any offer given to Cameron.

Cameron has played 171 games for the Giants and kicked 427 goals, having debuted in the club's inaugural match in 2012, winning the expansion club's leading goalkicker award in every season to date.
