Castro opts out of remainder of A-League season

Diego Castro has withdrawn from the Perth Glory squad to compete in the remainder of the A-League season.

Castro informed the club he has concerns around the unacceptable health risk it posed for him and his family.

Glory Director of Football Jacob Burns said they understood Castro's decision.

"Obviously we’re very disappointed to have lost a player and leader of Diego’s quality,” he said.

“His absence will create an opportunity for other members of what is a strong, versatile squad united in its aim to build upon last season’s historic success."
