Cripps crowned Brownlow Medallist

Patrick Cripps has won his maiden Brownlow medal in a thrilling count held on Sunday night.

Hailing from Northampton Cripps polled three votes in the last round of the home and away season finishing on 29-votes to leapfrog Lachie Neale who was two in front of the Blue after polling a singular vote in the last round.

The 27-year-old finished the season in fine form polling two best on grounds in the final two matches of the season.

Gold Coast's Touk Miller finished third on 27 votes while Fremantle's Andrew Brayshaw rounded out the top four tied with Melbourne's Clayton Oliver polling 25 votes.

Cripps is the first Carlton player to win the Brownlow medal since Chris Judd in 2010.

West Coast collectively polled just 15 votes for the night highlighting the underwhelming season the club had on field.
