UK stayer Deauville Legend has firmed in favouritism for Tuesday's Melbourne Cup after drawing perfectly in barrier nine.
Deauville Legend has now shortened to be $3.70 favourite in Top Sport's latest market.
Trainer James Ferguson said it gave the horse every chance now.
“I’m really happy because I didn’t want him to draw wide or too low and be stuck in the inside,” Ferguson said.
“It’s exactly what we needed so we can get a nice position behind the leaders and have a good run.”
Victorian trainers Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace have fiver runners in the Melbourne Cup with Gold Trip their best chance on the third line of betting at $14.
Their other chances include Grand Promenade ($81), Smokin Romans ($19), Bendigo Cup winner High Emocean ($31) and Interpretation ($41).
