Darling fails to meet AFL protocols

Eagles forward Jack Darling has failed to meet the AFL's COVID 19 playing and training mandates.

All WA players were required to have had their first COVID-19 vaccination by Friday January 21.

Under the AFL rules Darling will not be able to train to attend the Mineral Resources Park facility.

In a statement West Coast said Darling will continue to train, but away from the group while he continues to assess his future.

"The club will continue to support Jack as he contemplates his options and is optimistic that he will return to build on his outstanding career to date.

"While the club does respect the right to personal choice it also supports the protocols put in place by the AFL and Governments – both Federal and State – as they navigate their way through this persistent and challenging pandemic."
