Dockers duo named All-Australian

Dockers Kiara Bowers and Gemma Houghton has been named in the AFLW All-Australian squad.

Both players become dual All-Australians after back to back honours.

Bowers was named in the centre and dominated as a midfielder, creating headlines with her 99 tackles in 2020 - almost double that of any other player.

Her overall game was ranked number one by Champion Data.

Bowers said it was credit to her teammates to help her achieve such a feat.

“To get a second All Australian is amazing, I feel privileged and lucky that I have the team around me who make me look half decent out there,” Bowers said.

“I put it back to those girls for being such good teammates to make me look good, so I feel very lucky.”

Houghton believed the honour would give her greater motivation to push harder in 2021.

“(The award) makes you stronger and makes you more confident but it’s also your teammates pushing you to be the best you can be,” Houghton said.

“I’m excited to see what the next season has for us.”

However, the conference "A" ladder leaders could certainly have made a case for more players to be included.

Sabreena Duffy and Ebony Antonio both missed out of the final squad following being named in the initial 40-player squad for the second-straight season.
