Dockers run injury ravaged Eagles into the ground

A slick Dockers outfit has demolished West Coast in the two teams first hit out against opposition.

Fremantle running away 97-point winners in the 22.9.141 to 6.8.44 drubbing.

Michael Fredrick booted five goals for Fremantle while Travis Colyer and Bailey Banfield kicked three goals each.

It was a sad night for the Eagles who copped three more injuries all ankle to Dom Sheed, Elliot Yeo and Campbell Chesser.

Post-match coach Adam Simpson said that all three will head for scans.

“So all lower leg injuries, unfortunately first 10 minutes we lose a couple and then Yeo as well.

“I think all three boys are pretty similar. But I couldn’t tell exactly. We’re holding out hope, put it that way.

“We’re having a bad run at the moment. Thinking for round one, obviously concern for availability and personnel, trying to get a team."

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir had only positives to talk about after the match.

“We did it well tonight and we’re not always going to get that much speed on the ball, but I thought our forwards got rewarded for playing their roles and they got on the end of it,” Longmuir said.

“I think all facets of our game were in pretty good order... we know the Eagles are going through their issues at the moment with their injuries and aren’t playing as strong of a team as they’d like so we just tried to focus on our footy and what we could control and I was pretty happy with the evenness our of performance.”

The two sides will meet again next Sunday at Fremantle Oval.
