Eagles complete season avoiding wooden spoon
The Eagles season from hell is over concluding with an 85-point loss to Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
Geelong piled on six opening term goals and complied 62-27 inside 50's to set up the 19.17.131 to 7.4.46 rout.
Jamie Cripps booted three goals in his 200th game having the most impact of any Eagles player on the ground.
Junior Rioli failed to play out the game for the Eagles suffering an abdominal injury.
Coach Adam Simpson reflecting on the season said they the club were on a path with a lot of work ahead.
“We need a really good summer. Get our personnel back, reflect on what’s been a really difficult year, take some positives out of it and then hit the pre-season as hard as we can.

“Some people will suggest that it’s going to be a long time before we can get back up to where we want to be. And other people will say we’ll get 10-12 players back from today’s game.
“But I couldn’t honestly tell you. I know we’re going to hit the draft. We’re going to transition our list over the next two or three years.
“So if we get everything right, get good fresh availability, continue to grow, our players continue to get better, then…it will happen when it happens.
West Coast narrowly avoided winning the wooden spoon finishing just percentage ahead of North Melbourne.
It was a worst even season for the Eagles winning just two games in their 22 appearances.
