Four Eagles sign new deals

West Coast Eagles 2018 Premiership players Mark Hutchings and Nathan Vardy are among four players to re-sign with the club for the 2021, confirmed by the club on Wednesday.

Vardy adds depth to the Eagles ruck stocks, signing on for a fifth season with the club despite failing to play a senior game in 2020.

Hutchings also plays on in blue and gold but will be moved to the rookie list after the League announced cuts to primary list sizes due to this year’s COVID-19-impacted season.

The 29 year old added only three games to his 116-match career tally following a lingering iliotibial band problem followed by a significant hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, forwards Brendon Ah Chee and Jamaine Jones have agreed to rookie contract extensions.

The AFL announced earlier this week that senior listed players from 2020 could be shifted to the rookie list for next season without the need to be delisted and re-rookied at the draft.

Young defender Harry Edwards has been upgraded to the primary list after recently agreeing to a two-year deal.
