Franklin suffers setback

Swans forward Lance Franklin has sustained a hamstring injury at training on Wednesday.

Franklin will have scans on Thursday to determine what will be the best course of treatment.

The 33-year-old was running during the session and pulled up sore.

Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardner said it was too early to know the extent of the damage.

“Lance hadn’t been participating in contact training this week as we have been gradually building his training load,” Gardiner said.

“He was doing some routine running drills at Lakeside Oval this morning when he experienced pain in his hamstring, which is clearly a concern.

“We won’t know the extent of the injury until we have the results of the scan, but it’s a disappointing setback for Lance as he had been progressing well in his preparation for round two.”

Sam Reid suffered a calf injury earlier in the week and has been ruled out of the round two clash against Essendon.
