Franklin to miss weeks after surgery

Sydney superstar Lance Franklin will miss 10-weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee.

Franklin experience discomfort over the New Year period and the Swans determined heading into surgery as the best course of action.

Swans head of football Charlie Gardner said it was best for Lance to have a clean up now.

“We may have been able to manage the knee through the year, but we’re hopeful that this will mean Lance can have an uninterrupted season. He has had a similar clean up on his right knee in the past, so there are no long-term concerns." Gardner said.

It is unknown whether Franklin will be fit for round one.
