Fyfe cleared to play after umpire contact

Dockers skipper Nat Fyfe is free to play next weekend after being cleared of any wrongdoing following making contact with an umpire.

Fyfe put his hand on umpire Rob O'Gorman during the three quarter time break in Fremantle's 31-point loss to Carlton.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian said the Blues Matt Cottrell's push on Fyfe led to him making contact.

Fyfe had just 11-disposals in his second game back from injury.

Coach Justin Longmuir believes that the Blues targeted Fyfe.

“We had a lot of guys who didn’t have their normal impact. Fyfey’s probably got, not the excuse, but the reason of being a little bit rusty and working his way back into it. But we had a fair few guys well down today,” Longmuir said.

“I thought Carlton went after him a bit, especially in the second half. I don’t know whether he was the instigator or the retaliator.

“I think both teams were just playing it hard and fair. Fyfey doesn’t take a backward step around the contest and a lot of their players don’t either.”
