Fyfe set to return, Acres to make Freo debut

Fremantle's quest for back to back wins is set to be bolstered by the return of captain and dual Brownlow Medallist Nat Fyfe for their clash with St Kilda on Saturday.

Blake Acres is also set to debut for his new club, having crossed from the Saints as part of the Bradley Hill trade last October.

Fyfe missed the Dockers win over Adelaide due to a minor hamstring strain that occurred in the round 4 loss to Gold Coast, while Acres club debut has been delayed first by a hamstring injury in March and then a calf injury shortly before the season resumption.

Key position player Brennan Cox is also likely to press his claims to replace injured defender Griffin Logue, who has been ruled out with a toe injury.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir confirmed Acres inclusion, as well as his role in the side.

"He will play. It will be his first game for the club," he said.

"From day one we’ve tried to settle him down on the wing. He’ll play on the wing for us. We want him to be a one position player."

Fresh off his first win as coach of the club he played 139 games for as a player, Longmuir said Fyfe's availability would depend on how he pulled up from training on Thursday.

"We’re planning on Fyfe playing. The big test is if he gets through training. If he does that, he’ll play." He said.

Longmuir confirmed Cam McCarthy would remain on the sidelines for at least one more week, as he returns to full fitness after suffering an epileptic seizure in early June.
