Glory face being shutout of A-League

Perth Glory owner Tony Sage believes his club is set for more financial headache as they face being shutout from the rest of the competition.

Tough border restrictions means the $4million loss last season could be compounded and Sage admitted it is the closest he has come to walking away.

“I’ve never ever thought about throwing in the towel as much as I had when I heard those comments." Sage said on TripleM Perth.

“There’s no support from Government, there’s no support from the central body (Australian Professional Leagues).”

Glory face an uphill start to the season, opening at home against Adelaide United on November 20 before five away games in a tough schedule against Western United, Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City, Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United.

Sage believes also the entire A-League player body have had both vaccinations and arrangements could be made for teams to fly to Perth, stay in their hotel, play the game and fly out immediately.
