Green century has WA on top

A third Sheffield Shield century from Cameron Green has secured WA pole position on 6/291 at stumps on day one in their clash against Tasmania in Hobart.

WA were sent in on a green deck by the home side and were 2/31 when Cameron Bancroft (12) and Shaun Marsh (0) were dismissed in the first half an hour of the morning.

A short time later Jake Carder (28) was caught behind off the bowling of Gabe Bell to have the visitors in some trouble at 3/43.

Green and Sam Whiteman (53) went about their work blunting the Tassie bowling attack combining for a partnership of 91 before Whiteman succumbed to part-timer Jake Doran caught behind the wicket.

Josh Phillipe (63) picked up where Whiteman left off alongside Green partnering for a partnership of 121.

Phillipe was trapped leg before wicket to give Nathan Ellis his first wicket on debut for the Tigers.

Green was the mainstay of the innings reaching triple figures to continue to shine a light on his already impressive career with the bat to date.

Aaron Hardie (8) was dismissed cheaply and Joel Paris (8) remained not out at the end of the day's play.

Sam Rainbird was the pick of the home side's bowlers claiming three wickets.

Play resumes on day two at 7:30AM WST and you can hear the action on 91.3 SportFM.
