Harris sacked as Tigers coach

Claremont coach Darren Harris has been sacked as coach of the club, less than two weeks after coaching the team to it's first league Grand Final appearance since 2012.

Harris was told his contract would not be renewed on Wednesday night, the board having arrived at the decision via a board meeting last month.

The 52 year old took over the Tigers coaching role from Michael Broadbridge at the end of the 2016 season, coaching the club to three successive finals series before suffering a heartbreaking Grand Final loss to South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval in this year's decider.

The former West Perth premiership player and coach won 48 of his 71 matches in charge of the club, only missing finals in his first season in 2017.

The club is yet to release a statement but is set to commence the search for a new coach, with former Colts premiership coach Ross McQueen the favourite to take over the reins.
