Hogan officially a Giant

Jesse Hogan is now a Greater Western Sydney Giants player, having officially been traded by Fremantle as part of the opening day of the 2020 AFL trade period on Wednesday.

The key forward finds a third AFL home having started his career at Melbourne before two years in purple, traded for pick 54 in this year's AFL draft.

That pick was traded by West Coast earlier on Wednesday in exchange for small forward Zac Langdon, who is now an Eagle after three years with the Giants.

“We’ve agreed to release Jesse Hogan from his 2021 contract, he’s going to pursue his playing career at the GWS Giants and in return the Giants will be giving us pick 54,” executive general manager of football Peter Bell said.

“Clearly the trade for Jesse hasn’t ended the way that we would like but in the best interests of both parties we’ve agreed to this trade and we wish Jesse all the very best with the Giants.”

GWS General Manager Football Jason McCartney welcomed Hogan to the club.

“We’re delighted to come to an agreement with Fremantle as we think Jesse is a great fit for the GIANTS,” said McCartney.

“He’s a mature hard running and strong-marking player who, at his best, can have a big impact on-field.

“He’s excited to continue his career with us and his commitment is a great endorsement for our club.”

In other trade news, Richmond defender Oleg Markov has been traded to Gold Coast in exchange for the Suns future third round pick.
