Hurn signs on for another season

West Coast Eagles games record holder Shannon Hurn will play on into his 18th AFL season.

Hurn and the club confirmed a one-year contract extension on Wednesday a day before the list deadline.

Eagles recruiting manager Rohan O'Brien said "there was never much doubt that Shannon would continue into 2023.

"Clearly he was among our best players consistently last season and while he has an important role to play in defence, he is equally vital in helping the development of the next generation.

"The knowledge and football intellect he has built over the last 17 years will continue to be of great benefit to the young players in our squad."

Hurn finished second behind fellow defender Tom Barrass in the club's best and fairest award marking the second occasion in his career he had finished in the top two.
