Inverarity and Gannon elected to WA Cricket board

Former Australian Medical Association president Dr Michael Gannon and WA Cricket great John Inverarity are the newest directors on the WA Cricket board.

The pair fill the two member-elect vacancies following the resignations of former Chair Terry Waldron and Nicola Brandon.

Former Test cricketers Graeme Wood and Mike Veletta also quit the board mid-year and were replaced by Brad Hogg and property consultant Paul Collins.

Inverarity received 829 votes and Gannon 400.

CEO Christina Matthews was not present at the meeting after taking a month's leave and will also miss the first Test between Australia and the West Indies at Optus Stadium.

Matthews is expected to return to her role at the conclusion of that leave period.

The WA Cricket board also told the meeting on Monday night that there will be an independent review into governance following the spate of resignations with the terms of reference still to be established.
