Jetta returns to Swans

West Coast Eagles and Sydney Swans premiership player Lewis Jetta will return to where his senior football career started, signing to play with Swan Districts for the 2021 WAFL season.

After 202 games at the highest level with the Swans and then the Eagles Jetta will return to Bassendean to wear the black and white, having starred in his debut season with the club in 2009 to get his AFL opportunity with Sydney.

Jetta averaged 15 disposals and kicked 14 goals as a 20 year old, kicking the winning goal in the state game for Western Australia against South Australia to top off a memorable season of football.

General Manager of Football Phil Smart was delighted to welcome back Jetta to the club.

“We would like to welcome Lewis back to the club,” Smart said.

“He will add great experience and leadership to our player group. Lewis has had a wonderful AFL career and we are looking forward to him passing some of his knowledge onto our younger players. It is wonderful to have the Jetta family back at Swan Districts.”

Jetta has also expressed his excitement at being back at Swans. “One way to sum it all up, it’s a little bit naughty but yet so nice” Jetta said.

Swan Districts finished 2020 in fine style, winning three of their last four games to give hope to their passionate fans after a wooden spoon season in 2019.

Adam Pickering's side had already announced the recruitment of mid-sized forward Jesse Palmer and key defender Cam Jones this off-season, hoping for a return to finals for the first time since 2017.
