Key Docker Defender Sidelined

Fremantle defender Joel Hamling won't be available for the start of the season after injuring his right ankle.

The 26-year-old sustained it during yesterday's training session which leaves a gaping hole in the Dockers' backline with other key backman Alex Pearce who is still recovering from preseason ankle surgery.

"He will be further assessed by a specialist, after which we will have a more accurate estimate of the recovery time Joel's injury will require," General Manager of Football Peter Bell said.

Hamling has been an integral part of the club playing 62 games since coming over from the Western Bulldogs at the end of its 2016 Premiership campaign.
