Kyrgios made to work hard for victory

Nick Kyrgios is into the fourth round of the Australian Open setting up a clash against Rafael Nadal.

Kyrgios defeated Russian Karen Khachanov 6-2, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 7-6 in over four hours on Melbourne Arena.

It was a thrilling final set tiebreak where Kyrgios got the early jump to lead 3-0 before Khachanov broke back to take the lead 4-3.

The pair traded blows before the Russian succumbed when trailing 9-8 spraying the ball wide from a Kyrgios backhand to send the crowd into ruptures.

Nadal and Kyrgios will meet on Monday on Rod Laver Arena.
