Kyrgios pulls out of United Cup

Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the inaugural edition of the United Cup less than 24 hours before the start of the tournament.

Kyrgios was due to lead Australia's campaign starting against Great Britain in Sydney.

It's reported his teammates were informed including Alex DiMinaur just 10-minutes before Australia were due to front a press conference.

A statement from organisers was posted on social media confirming Kyrgios withdrawal.

The world number 22 was also due to take on Rafael Nadal when Australia hosted Spain on January 2.

Kyrgios have cited nagging injuries as his reason for not being able to participate the event.

It's now a battle against time to be fit for the Australia Open at Melbourne Park that begins on January 16.
