Maiden Davis goal highlights Siena’s player of the round effort
Anthony Davis had not scored a goal since the 2019 colts grand final but his maiden league strike could not have come at a better time.
The Claremont defender swooped on a loose ball early in the top-five clash with Subiaco, ran into attack and launched a bomb from outside the 50m arc.

The goal proved vital with the Tigers holding on at Revo Fitness Stadium to beat the Lions by just seven points.
And while the major was a sweet moment for Davis and his team-mates, it was his ability to intercept Subiaco forward thrusts and then counterattack effectively that made him the best player in the match.
Davis was named SportFM’s Siena’s restaurant player of the match for a performance that included 20 disposals, eight marks and the first goal in 47 league appearances.
He was also determined to keep opponent Ryan Borchet quiet after the high-flying Lion kicked five goals when they met earlier in the season; Davis did so well that the Subiaco forward had just six touches and managed just one goal.
Siena’s will provide a $100 voucher to the best player in the SportFM match of the round this season.
