Matildas put on clinic against Vietnam

The Matildas have moved one step closer to a birth at the Tokyo Olympics after thrashing Vietnam 5-0 in Newcastle.

Captain Sam Kerr, Chloe Logarzo and Emily Van Egmond all scored in the first half before Claire Polkinghorne and Kerr again continued to pile on the pressure in the second.

Coach Ante Milicic was delighted with his side's performance.

“It’s easy in these games to get frustrated and maybe not stick to the game plan, but in the end, delighted with the result,” Milicic said.

“It puts us in a good position to go to Vietnam and then look to attack, look to score first and make it difficult for our opponent.”
