McKenzie pick one in AFLW Draft

17 year old midfielder Ellie McKenzie has been selected by Richmond with pick one in the 2020 AFLW Draft held on Tuesday night.

McKenzie played for Fitzroy junior football club before graduating to the Northern Knights in 2016.

She was named All Australian at last year's NAB AFLW under-18 championships.

McKenzie is the younger sister of former North Melbourne rookie Tom.

West Coast swooped on Claremont product Isabella Lewis with pick three to strengthen their midfield ahead of their second AFLW season, also adding 19 year old forward Shanae Davidson (pick 18), East Fremantle defender Julie-Anne Norrish and Claremont ruck/forward Andrea Gilmore.

Fremantle picked up Peel Thunder WAFLW premiership player Sarah Verrier, brother of South Fremantle premiership player Steven, as well as explosive forward Mikayla Morrison and midfielder Tiah Haynes, who was re-drafted to the club having been on the club's books in seasons 2017 and 2018.
