UPDATED: Aus Grand Prix cancelled

FRIDAY MORNING -->

The Australian Grand Prix has been cancelled.

A statement read: "In light of this decision and updated advice this morning from the Chief Health Officer of the Victorian Government’s Department of Human and Health Services, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation confirms the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix is cancelled immediately.

"At 9am today the Australian Grand Prix Corporation was advised by Formula 1 of their intention to cancel all Formula 1 activity at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix."

THURSDAY NIGHT -->

This weekend's Australian Grand Prix has been thrown into chaos following another positive test for coronavirus.

At least eight team personnel have now been affected in a situation fast becoming out of control.

McLaren confirmed a member of their staff had tested positive to coronavirus and would now be withdrawing from the event.

They released the following statement.

It's unlikely that F1 would want to continue without all 10-teams participating with bosses previously stating they would not go ahead without Ferrari if the Italian government had restricted travel.
