Minjee Lee crowned US Open champion

West Aussie Minjee Lee has sensationally become the third Australian women ever to win US Open.

Lee pockets the massive $US10 million in prize money in just her second major after winning in France last year.

The 26-year-old won by four shots never looking behind her to see what was coming with a cool hand par 71 in the final round.

It is now most likely that Lee will jump to number three in the world from her current ranking of four with just Korean Jin Young Ko and American Nelly Korda in front of her.

"I mean, I'm speechless, I can't believe it right now," Lee said.

"It's just super special and such a great honour. It's been my dream since I was a little girl. It's the one I always wanted to win. Now I've done it, it's amazing."

Karrie Webb and Jan Stephenson are the only other Australian women to have won the US Open.
