Mooney joins WA

Australian and Perth Scorchers star batter Beth Mooney will make the move to Western Australia next season, set to feature in the Women's National Cricket League.

The 28-year-old Queenslander and triple World Cup champion has left her home state and signed with Western Australia for the 2022-23 season, two years after switching her Big Bash home from the Brisbane Heat to the Perth Scorchers.

Off-spinner Lilly Mills, who also switched from the Heat to the Scorchers last season and played in their title-winning Big Bash side, has joined Mooney in leaving the Fire to join WA.

Mooney helped the Heat to back-to-back WBBL titles in 2018-19 and 2019-20, with player of the match innings in both deciders, before moving to the Scorchers in 2020-21 where she also featured in their first championship last year.

The left hander was named in Australia's squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series and commonwealth games in Birmingham in June and July, following on from the World Cup triumph in New Zealand last month.
