No Test match for Perth second year running
Perth has been ruled out of hosting the fifth Ashes Test with Cricket Australia, WA Cricket and the WA government unable to agree to terms of quarantine arrangements.
A replacement has not yet been announced however it is understood that Hobart and a potential second Test in Melbourne after the favoured options.
WACA CEO Christina Matthews said in a statement the decision was difficult to accept but it would not favour the efforts to bring live cricket to WA this summer.
"We are extremely disappointed for our Members, fans, Commercial Partners and the wider WA cricket community as well as all our staff and players who have been looking forward to and planning for the first ever Ashes to be played at Perth Stadium.
We’ve been working closely and constructively with the WA Government and Cricket Australia for many months to bring this fixture to Perth amid the pandemic-related challenges we’ve faced."
