O'Keefe dropped from NSW contract list

Former Test spinner Stephen O'Keefe has retired from first class cricket after being told he would not receive a contact from Cricket NSW.

O'Keefe will still make himself available for selection in the Big Bash for the Sydney Sixers.

The 35-year-old said he was disappointed but accepted the decision.

“It’s been such a privilege to play for my country and captain my state but above everything else I’m most proud to have played alongside some of the best blokes I’ve ever met,” O'Keefe said.

“When I think about my time playing cricket, that’s what I’ll miss most.”

O'Keefe played nine-Test matches for Australia claiming 35-wickets.

He will finish his first class career with 301 wickets at 24.66.
