O'Meara beats trade deadline to land at Freo

Jaeger O'Meara has landed at Fremantle just minutes before the 4:30pm (WA time) trade deadline.


O'Meara is headed to his third club after 143 games at Gold Coast and then Hawthorn.


The 28-year-old accompanied was exchanged for Lloyd Meek and a Dockers future second round pick.


Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls said it was a bittersweet day for the club for the club.


“We are thrilled to add Jaeger to our midfield mix. He’s 28 and brings valuable leadership and experience to our list.


“His talent is undoubted, and he’s shown incredible adversity to bounce back and play regular football after sustaining a significant knee injury early in his career.

Meanwhile, Rory Lobb was traded to the Western Bulldogs for pick number 30 and a future second round pick.


“Rory had a great season this year, and as we have said previously, a player of his calibre with his athletic attributes is quite rare,” Walls said.


“We think the Bulldogs offer of two second round selections represented fair value, and we were happy to execute Rory’s request and add significantly to our draft hand."
