Perth to host AFL Masters Carnival

Perth has been announced as the host city of the AFL Masters National Carnival for 2020, to be held from 26th September to 4th October this year.

It will be just the fourth time Perth has hosted the event, and first time since 2003.

AFL Masters WA Chairman Nathan Dixon told SportsDrive it was an exciting opportunity for the state and those involved in the Masters program.

"It's awesome news for WA, it's a great opportunity for not only WA Masters players but also for other states to come and see what our state has on the table." Dixon said.

The carnival will feature over 1200 male and female players from around Australia, representing 35 teams.

Venues including Langley Park and Ovals within the Optus Stadium precinct will be used during the carnival, which is being officially supported by Tourism WA.

Dixon said he held high hopes for the event.

"We are going to try and make this the best carnival ever and make the other states realise they have missed out by not coming to Perth previously."

AFL Masters was founded in 1980, providing an opportunity for those over 30 years of age to enjoy the game in a safe and family orientated environment.

43 clubs exist in WA, and you can find more information on AFL Masters clubs in WA at www.aflmasterswa.com.au.

The AFL Masters Show will return to 91.3 Sport FM this winter.
