Pike reveals reasons behind no jab
Champion jockey William Pike has revealed the reasons behind why he has elected not to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
Pike will leave Western Australia to ride in NSW after Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) announced they would mandate double vaccination for all participants come February 5.
"Call me what you want, I know what I'm doing and why I'm doing it." Pike told Channel Nine.
The numerous group one winning jockey says an adverse reaction to a flu shot is the reason why he won't be getting the jab.
"I got really sick and made me think a little bit I was pretty healthy why did I go and fiddle with it."
Pike has won over $100-million in prize money and sees heading to Sydney as another challenge but not without risk with Racing NSW at any stage could enforce the same mandate as RWWA.
""I feel young enough and healthy enough to be able to fight off COVID or many other things if that becomes the case."
