Premiership star wins Siena’s player of the day

West Perth midfielder Luke Meadows justified his big game player status on Saturday, winning the Siena’s Player of the Day award in 91.3 Sport FM’s broadcast match.

The 28 year old won the best on ground Simpson Medal in last years epic premiership win over Claremont, starting 2023 averaging almost 25 disposals per game over the first five rounds.

Meadows dominated in the clinches in a tough contested game against East Fremantle at the WACA, recording 24 disposals and kicking two crucial final quarter majors to help his team to a 15 point win.

“I’ll be feeling a lot better after Siena’s mate!” An exhausted Meadows told Sport FM boundary rider Matt Grubelich after the match.

“It was a grind all day, that was the theme of the day was grind them (East Fremantle).

“It was tough conditions out there today but it was great to get the win.”

Meadows has played four state games and been on the radar of several AFL clubs, spending two seasons in the VFL with Williamstown and Box Hill in pursuit of an elite level opportunity.

While that chance is yet to arrive, he has been a consistent player in red and blue for 122 games, and looms as a key contributor in the Falcons quest for back-to-back premierships.

Each week the 91.3 Sport FM commentary team determines the Siena’s player of the day, with that player to receive a $100 voucher to spend at station sponsor Siena’s of Leederville, located on Oxford Street.
