Victorian Will Pucovski is set to be ruled out of the opening Ashes Test of the summer.
The 23-year-old will miss Victoria's Sheffield Shield match against NSW starting on Friday at the MCG.
Pucovski made his Test debut against India last January and is recovering from the 10th concussion of his career.
Victorian coach Chris Rogers said that it was no doubt a setback.
"He hasn't quite recovered as well as hoped to play in this [Sheffield Shield] game from the concussion.
"So, in discussions with the medical team and the national selectors, it was felt we give him a bit more time before we select him to play for Victoria."
Rogers believes that the slow and right approach was the best way to move forward rather than rush him back in the matches.
