Railway Stakes favourite claims choice barrier

Western Empire's claims of a group one Railway Stakes victory has been boosted after drawing barrier three for Saturday's race at Ascot.

The four-year-old gelding enters the Railway in formidable form, having won his past five starts.

He claimed the WA Derby back in April and made his return at the end of October in the Group Three Asian Beau, delivering a commanding performance to win by over two lengths.

The training partnership of Grant and Alana Williams, owner Bob Peters and jockey William Pike have had a stranglehold on the Railway in recent times, combining to win the past three.
