NRL season suspended

The NRL has been forced to follow other codes and suspend its season effective immediately.

Chairman Peter V'landys and CEO Todd Greenberg confirmed the league would shut down.

"We can no longer guarantee the safety of our players to continue to play... accordingly we are suspending the season. We aren't going to put a time period to the suspension" Greenberg said.

The Queensland government will close its borders on Tuesday afternoon making it difficult for the league to continue.

The Warriors will now fly home on Tuesday before the New Zealand government raise to a level 4 status.

NRL clubs will now attempt to keep themselves afloat in these uncertain and troubling times.
