Revised BBL fixtures released

Home matches for the Perth Scorchers as part of BBL 10 are still up in the air, after Cricket Australia released revised fixtures for this summer's domestic T20 tournament on Thursday.

While dates and opponents have been set for the duration of the tournament only five matches so far have finalised venues, with the Scorchers to start their season at a neutral venue against the Melbourne Renegades at Blundstone Arena on December 12th.

They will play the Melbourne Stars four days later at UTAS Stadium (York Park) in Launceston before heading to the nations capital to play the Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval on December 22nd, followed by consecutive games against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval on the 28th and 31st December, the latter being Perth's first New Year's Eve game since 2013.

The remaining nine matches will have confirmed venues in due course, with hopes of state border restrictions being eased over the coming weeks to allow a block of home matches at Optus Stadium for the three time BBL champions.

Scorchers coach Adam Voges said it is exciting to have a BBL fixture confirmed for the summer.

“We now have a revised BBL schedule locked in that sees us begin our campaign in just over a month and the group is thrilled by that and ready to embrace it,” Voges said.

“Our players, coaches and staff are all looking forward to playing, albeit in these unusual circumstances.

“We are excited about the strong squad we have assembled for the summer and want to make our Scorchers fans proud.

“We remain hopeful that we will be able to play in front of our Members and fans at Optus Stadium in January.”
